Results of the July 2003 Technical Meeting in Berlin

Outcome:

  • Development of Hermitage Collection data and presentation:
    • Began design of web pages (Madeleine)
    • MVN 20 ATF-formatted; corrections soon from Natasha
    • status of Selz transliterations to be clarified (Natasha)
    • Natasha to provide basic cat info for full collection
    • status of image processing to be clarified (Bob)
  • Improvements to Access System
    • Thumbnails no longer aliased
    • maintenance/update workflow to be written by Madeleine
    • Revamp databases and database workflow according to Jena notes, etc.
      • joins now to be handled with dummy composed tablet record
      • constrain period options, make catalogue env and seal conventions match DTD, add writing period field, add artificial composite records, make info buttons work for all layouts
    • Revamp templates now that we can do multi-file searches
      • replace collection with owner, add more fields to main search and sign search
      • should search in line still be separate from main search page?
      • add in-line action to show transliterations available in imagelist templates
    • search capabilities, e.g. search for two different things in the same or different texts or lines
    • write intro and help pages for access system
    • how to show how many texts have images/transliterations?
  • Backup/Mirror to Berlin from Los Angeles
    • database backup/mirroring
      • database folder added to RAID archives to be transferred
      • Madeleine to set up scripting in databases and on LA server for auto-copying
    • automatic mirroring to begin in September
    • backups will take place daily at midnight Pacific Time beginning 19.7
