Outcome:

  • Transformation of legacy transliterations into ATF:
    • Ur III (Leiden) finished except for a few un-p-numbered or needing corrections to the numerical notations
    • Ur III (Molina) to be done
    • Old Sumerian (Selz) Cale to remove RTF coding
    • Proto-Elamite complete
    • Proto-cuneiform completely reformatted
  • Improvements to atf2xml converter, version 0.99 (Steve)
  • Further development of the docspecs system for displaying cuneiform texts in Arboreal (Malcolm)
  • Organization of archiving:
    • transliterations and image data have been collected on a server
    • Scripts and other tools are to be archived on server
  • Exploration of CVS (version control software) by Cale and Malcolm to be continued
  • Demonstration of edoc system: MPG made this system available to us; it will be used provisionally to save CDLI text files only
  • Discussion of database options/alternatives, including Xindice, SQL, FileMaker, static pages, etc., to be discussed further with UCLA Center for Digital Humanities
  • Simplification and improvement of FileMaker solution for text presentation
  • Decision made to transform ATF with Perl for FileMaker web serving (script now available at http://archimedes.fas.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/cdli/atf2www).
  • Corrected ICP transliterations put on web
  • Received updated version of LiSe program from Berlin
  • Arboreal applet written to demo application on 92 proto-cuneiform texts from the Erlenmeyer collection
  • Test of fully coded trial text and upgrading of ATF to XML transformation
  • Discussion of status of PSD
    • list of primary terms up in next two weeks;
    • beta of on-line/CD version in 2004 and final version in 2005;
    • printed concise version to be published;
    • morphological analyzer under construction;
    • automatic linking by PSD to CDLI text pages and CDLI linking of transliterations to PSD by formal queries
